Health and Travel Insurance
All students must have appropriate medical, travel, and personal insurance in place for the duration of their stay in Ireland.
If you’re travelling from an EU country, don’t forget to bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This will cover emergency hospital care and visits to certain doctors, but please note it does not cover elective procedures or dental care. International students can arrange suitable health insurance through us here at Limerick Language Centre, making the process simple and stress-free.
If you’re unsure about what you need, just let us know – we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction and help make sure you’re fully covered before you begin your studies.

To support this, Learner Protection insurance is included in your course fees and is a mandatory requirement for all students. This provides peace of mind and financial security throughout your studies.

Host Family Accommodation
A Warm Irish Welcome – Live and Learn with a Host Family
Spending time with a carefully chosen Irish host family is one of the most enjoyable and authentic ways to begin your stay in Ireland. It’s more than just accommodation – it’s an opportunity to experience Irish life firsthand, improve your English naturally, and feel part of a family from day one.
All of our host families are individually inspected, personally selected, and regularly reviewed to ensure high standards of comfort, care and friendliness. Most have been welcoming students for many years and provide a warm, supportive environment where you’ll quickly feel at home.
You’ll have your own private single bedroom, cleaned weekly, with fresh bed linen and towels provided. A desk or quiet study space is available, along with adequate storage for clothes. You’ll also have daily access to a shower or bath, with plenty of hot water and heating as needed.
Three meals a day are included-breakfast, lunch (or packed lunch), and a home-cooked evening meal, shared with the family. Mealtimes are a great way to practise your English and learn about Irish culture. Wi-Fi is also included.
To support full language immersion, we ensure there is no other student in the home who shares your mother tongue, unless requested.
Accommodation is available year-round, excluding the Christmas holidays. Arrivals are welcome on Saturdays or Sundays, though weekday arrivals can sometimes be arranged. You’ll receive your host family’s details in advance, so you can feel fully prepared before your arrival.
Student Apartment Accommodation
Grove Island – Modern Student Living in a Friendly, Social Setting
Grove Island is a purpose-built student village offering comfortable and convenient shared accommodation in four- and five-bedroom apartments. Designed with student life in mind, each apartment provides a balance of privacy and community living.
Every student has a private ensuite bedroom, complete with shower, toilet, and washbasin, along with a desk and storage space, making it ideal for both rest and study. The apartments also include a fully-equipped kitchen for self-catering, a shared living room (please note, no television is provided), and access to on-site laundry facilities for a small fee.
Bed linen is provided, though students should bring their own towels and toiletries. Utilities- including electricity, Wi-Fi, water, and waste disposal – are all included in the price, offering peace of mind and no hidden costs.
Shared accommodation is a popular choice among students for good reason. Not only is it a cost-effective option, allowing you to split expenses, but it also offers a chance to build friendships and be part of a supportive community. Shared kitchens and common areas naturally encourage conversation and connection, helping you settle in and feel at home. While shared living can be a rewarding experience, choosing flatmates thoughtfully and maintaining open communication are key to creating a positive and respectful environment. With the right balance of independence and community, Grove Island offers a welcoming space where students can live, learn, and thrive together.
